Greetings! I feel so blessed to have taught in this district since the 2000-01 school year. I teach in the Life Management Department and for the last several years have taught the Foods and Nutrition classes as well as the Culinary Arts classes. I am able to interact with incredible students while teaching these classes. Some students choose to take Foods and Nutrition to learn more about nutrition and gain food prep skills that they can use in their everyday life, but a growing number of my students are choosing the foodservice industry for their career path. In fact, the foodservice industry is one of the fastest growing in the country!
I grew up in Vicksburg, Michigan. Cooking has always been a large part of my life. Growing up, I worked at the multiple restaurants that my grandparents owned in Kalamazoo, enjoyed gardening and baking at home with my family, and choose to do co-op in high school in the foodservice area. After high school, I went on to earn my BS and MS degrees from Western Michigan University in Family and Consumer Sciences.
I met my husband, Mr. Berry (Drafting/CAD teacher at the HS) at Western while we were students. We were married in St. Joseph in 2002 and now have two children. We are so happy that we chose St. Joseph to live, work, and raise our family.
