I earned a BA in music performance with saxophone and a cognate in Spanish at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Next I completed my teacher certification for secondary education with a major in Spanish and a minor in English at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. During that time, I also participated in an intensive language program at the Universidad Autó³noma de Querétaro in Querétaro, México. While teaching in St. Joseph, I earned my Master's degree from Western Michigan University in Spanish language, literature and culture with a focus on Latin America . Spanish is an amazing language. There are so many things to learn and enjoy while studying and communicating with Spanish. Some of these are the many delicious foods, exciting music, people from numerous countries, interesting geography, various cultures and literature.
In class, I enjoy sharing my love and enthusiasm for the language, people, food, music, culture and more with my students as they learn and grow individually and together throughout the school year. I hope that everyone has had a fantastic summer and I believe that we are going to have a very fun, interesting and enjoyable year.
Here are some of my favorite books that I enjoy reading in Spanish:
Los funerales de la mama grande by Gabriel García Márquez
