As a part-time teacher, I teach two hours a day:
English10 Second Hour - 9:14-10:12
English10 Third Hour - 10:17-11:15
However, I am here at school from 7:30 - 3:30 every day.

My education includes a B.A. from Western Michigan University and a Masters Degree from Michigan State University. The school year 2009 - 2010 begins my seventh year of teaching English at St. Joseph High School. In 1995, after teaching English, Speech, and Composition for College for twenty-one years at Lakeshore High School, I retired. I was extremely pleased to have received the Teacher of Excellence Award from LHS. In 1998, missing the students and the excitement of teaching, I began substituting and happily found myself back in the classroom every day as a retired, part-time teacher. I am proud to be a part of the St. Joseph High School staff.

Meeting my students and their parents is something I look forward to each year. For over thirty years my home phone number, school room phone number, my school email have always been open to my students and their parents. Please don't hesitate to call me anytime. I am always available. I also enjoy working one on one before classes begin in the morning and after sixth hour in the afternoon.

As a part-time teacher, I have enjoyed working extensively with two international students: Beana from Korea, who is now a student at WMU, and Loc, from Vietnam, who graduated in 2008 and is attending LMC. He is currently enrolled at Grand Rapids Community College for this fall.

Last year I worked with Mr. Runser and Mr. Henry Seo to develop a sister high school, Daeji High School, in South Korea with SJHS. This project has endless possiblilities for educational advantages for both schools.
Daeji's high school principal, a board member, and the head of the English Department visited us for three days October 2008. At the end of May , three sophomore young ladies and an English teacher visited us for three days, hosted by students of our Global Connections Club;everyone had a wonderful time.I am sure that you will be hearing more as we develop plans for communication between the high schools.

Teaching literature and writing has been the joy of my life for over thirty years. I am very thankful that I am able to extend that joy during my retirement.
