Greetings and welcome to E. P. Clarke Elementary School. E. P. Clarke is an elementary building in south St. Joseph that educates children in grades kindergarten through five. We currently house 462 students in fourteen (20) regular education classrooms. Our recently revised curriculum meets the Michigan Department of Education’s standards and benchmarks. We have one full-time special education teacher and certified teachers of physical education, vocal music, and art. In addition, we have several instructional aides available to our students.
Recent additions have provided our kids with a new computer lab. Our kids have access to a video conferencing distance education lab where they experience live field trips. Our science lab provides our kids a place to do real hands-on experiments. We have a television studio that gives our upper elementary kids the opportunity to produce a daily news program. Our new media center is staffed with a certified media specialist and a media paraprofessional. Fifth grade students can choose between band or stringed instruments.
Through the efforts of our PTO we are able to offer varied enrichments such as: foreign language, chess, sign language, Junior Great Books. Our PTO also sponsors seven educational assemblies. The unique St. Joseph community supplements us with educational places such as Curious Kids Museum, The Krasl Art Center, The Box Factory for the Arts, Lake Michigan, Sarett Nature Center, Upton Planetarium, a community college, and a zoo in nearby South Bend. Our kids take educational field trips to Chicago and Grand Rapids and our third graders visit an early American settlement near Indianapolis.
We have a spacious playground that features an 8-foot wide walking track.
Please call or email us for more information or to take a tour of the building.
