Welcome to the E.P. Clarke Art Room Page!
Thanks for stopping by. My name is Aubree ( Benner) DiGennaro and I started in the St. Joseph Public Schools in the summer of 2007, but I am by no means new to St Joe. I was born and raised in St Joseph and attended Lincoln Elementary School, Upton Middle School, and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1998.
Art has been a lifelong interest of mine. I received my BFA from the University of Michigan in 2002 with a focus in Illustration. After deciding to explore new interests, I moved to Kalamazoo and worked at Kalamazoo Country Day School for three years and returned to school for Art Education at Western Michigan University. What better way to make a living, combining two things I enjoy: Art and children! I still work on my own art aspirations but find inspiration everyday working with the kids at E.P. Clarke and with my students at Upton.
I love the quote by Pablo Picasso,"Every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." The students I have remind me of this every day with their use of imagination and lack of inhibition to share their personal ideas and talents. There is some wonderful work that is done by the students at E.P Clarke. Next time you are at our school, please take the time to view the student masterpieces hanging in the halls.
