Hello and thanks for visiting my webpage! My name is Colette Jasiak, and I am one of two School Social Workers for the district. I travel between E.P. Clarke Elementary and Lincoln Elementary. This is my thirteenth year with the district.
The great thing about my job is that everyday is different! My job is made up of a variety of tasks and is really interesting because I work with kids from Young Fives through 5th grade. At the elementary level, I see students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom regularly.
In the classroom, I teach about character education, social skills, coping skills, anger management, problem-solving, etc... My classroom sessions focus on our Word of the Week. I also run the Conflict Manager program and Circle of Friends program.
Thanks to teacher discussion, student interest and parent support, both programs have high numbers of students participating and have a positive impact on our overall school climate. I am also available to parents and teachers to help problem-solve and access community resources.
After graduating from high school, I attended Central Michigan University where I graduated with a B.A. in Sociology. After that, I attended the University of Michigan where I received my Master's of Social Work.
