I have worked for St. Joseph Public Schools since 2002. I graduated from Andrews University with degrees in Music Education and Spanish, and completed a double masters degree in Music Education & String Pedagogy from Northwestern University. I've taught elementary and middle school General Music, fifth grade Spanish, 6-12 Orchestra, and high school Music Theory. Currently I teach 6th and 7th grade Woodwinds, and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade orchestras. Outside of St. Joseph schools I conduct the Encore Strings (through the Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra), teach violin privately, and play violin and viola professionally. I am married to Sean Sinnett who is a professional violinist and violin/viola instructor.
My goal is to create an environment that fosters a love for learning. My personal teaching style is to nurture, inspire, and guide, allowing my students ample freedom to make their own choices and take ownership in the learning process.
