AP EXAM Testing Dates: May 4-8 & 11-15, 2020

*College Board has made some very significant changes to the dates for ordering AP exams, as well as the deposit and late fee policy.*

AP exams are $94 each. College Board requires a nonrefundable deposit of $40 for each AP exam by November 11, 2019 if you wish to take an AP exam in May, 2020 (May 4-8 & May 11-15).

For orders that are placed after November 11, you will be charged an additional $40 by College Board. Doing the math for late tests ordered; your cost for each AP exam will be $94+$40 late fee=$134.

All students must now pay a $40 deposit to test. SJHS will be charged for every exam that is ordered, whether the student actually takes the exam or not.

The rationale from College Board for these changes: Research has shown that students enrolled in AP courses are more engaged, confident and less likely to “give up” when they register to test in the fall. And that commitment translates into more students taking the exam and earning college credit. https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/about-ap/news-changes/ap-2019

A positive change that has been made is new instructional support; classroom resources that will help teachers support students year-round; progress checks, unit guides, AP question bank, etc.

Registration and payment for AP exams are on PaySchools Central. If you have not created your family account, please see the instructions on the high school website @ sjschools.org. Search under optional fees for AP exam.

You will be given the option to pay the nonrefundable deposit of $40, or full payment of $94. For those who pay the $40 deposit, the balance will be due by the day of the AP exam, also through your PaySchools account. If you receive free and reduced lunch, please see your counselor about a fee waiver.

For questions, please contact Tracy Wagner, AP testing coordinator at 269-926-3210 or twagner@sjschools.org
